Online Tutorials for Students Lead to Better Results

With the introduction of online classes, more and more students are moving to a digital world where they can study what they are trying to learn from at home or from a totally different country. But is it actually worth it to study online? How effective really is online tutorials?

IBM have found that participants learn 5 times more material in online learning courses using multimedia content in comparison to traditional face to face courses. Many offline courses struggle to retain students throughout the length of the course. The Research Institute of America has come up with the conclusion that, in case of e-learning, it is actually the opposite scenario. Online courses have higher student retention rates by 25%-60%. For many students a set back for enrolling in traditional face to face classes is the time investment it requires. It is important to note that online tutorials generally allow students to split the time they invest in the course in whichever way works for them. It gives them more time to get a part-time job or a freelancing job or allocate time in doing other things they want to do. One of the great things about online courses is that assessment becomes more of an ongoing process. This is good news for students as interspersing multimedia content and learning materials with regular short tests can improve student engagement. The more often students are assessed, the better their tutors are able to keep track of their progress. Increased student tracking means that tutors are able to step in earlier when assistance is needed.
