English for Hospitality Ind.

English is the fastest growing language in human history. Today, about 1.75 billion people around the world speak the language and that is almost 25% of the world’s population. English is not just used in everyday situations but it is also used in professional settings. Learning professional English is one of the significant career moves.

It is universally acknowledged that English is the lingua franca of the world. English is considered currency through which knowledge is traded. No country today can remain isolated from the rest of the world. Bangladesh is a country of enormous natural beauty with rivers, sea, hills and forest. She has the longest natural sea beach of the world in Cox’s bazar and the largest natural mangrove forest Sundarbans which attract tourists from home and abroad. Albeit, Bangladesh has all the potentials to flourish in tourism sector. By 2020 there will be hundreds of new hotel openings in Bangladesh, creating an estimated of thousands new job opportunities. A report by WTTC in 2013 said, Bangladesh travel and tourism sector directly supports1.8% of total employment and it was expected to rise by 4% in 2014.

So, here the question arises if there is enough skilled staff to assist this demand? A high percentage of hotel openings in a country where English is not a first language seems troublesome. So how can a hotel meet this expectation of their English-speaking guests more efficiently? Ideally, all front-line staff must have specific knowledge of English to deliver quality services. One more effective way is if the hotel takes the lead by providing onsite training to staff in the specific English they require to meet the needs of guests. If done correctly, the goal can be achieved in a very short timeframe. The key is to focus on the language skills of speaking and listening, and the English words and phrases that relate to their specific position, and the things a guest may ask.

Keeping that in mind, Astute Horse is introducing an English training program for hotel and hospitality workers. This particular training program will provide special English skills, hospitality workers need to work in a hotel or in any similar tourism and hospitality environment. Astute Horse has designed the program to help train hotel management, hotel reception, concierges, housekeeping, restaurant staff, tour guides, and other hotel staff positions. Anyone can take part in hotel English training program. Students will gain valuable skills of communication as well as revising grammar and perfecting their pronunciation. This training program is designed for hospitality workers who are looking to improve their speaking ability.
