E-learning

Due to the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, the whole world of higher education is going digital. It is a fundamental shift in classrooms and lecture halls and this is where our platform e –porbo comes in to play. E-learning is a computer based educational tool or system which enables you to learn anywhere at any time. E-learning involves the use of computer or any other electronic devices like a smart phone or a tablet along with a working wifi network and provides educational materials and training. The term ‘e-learning’ refers to the delivery of education and training through digital sources. Technology has advanced so much that the geographical gap is bridged with the use of tools that make you feel as if you are inside the classroom. 

Let’s talk about the advantages e-learning has. It allows you to share material in all types of formats such as videos, slideshows, word documents and PDF’s. It provides learners with the ability to fit learning around their lifestyles. Hence its suitable even for the busiest people to further their careers and gain new qualifications. With the help of apps like Zoom, Google Classroom, Google Hangout and Google Meet you can now learn online with the comfort of your home or wherever you are. Compared to the traditional form of learning, e-learning is cheaper because almost every household has access to an internet connection is some way or the other. And using mobile data is also not big a deal anymore. Location and accessibility issues are rendered obsolete. At e-porbo we are thinking beyond just filming lectures from the faculties’ home and archiving them online. Teachers are working on creating high quality online courses that will keep learners engaged through online text, video and interaction. The digital shift also affects how students prepare for class. Now, the can access resources online instead of getting a reading list for the library. Students can absorb information online first and then attend classes to discuss what they have learnt. Some students use smart phones instead of laptops and so e-porbo is designing course materials that is mobile-responsive. In the past online learning experiences might have been lonely but we are creating an opportunity for students to do line online classes that will be interactive and engaging. Interaction is very dominant now when it comes to e-learning. Students might watch a video then be invited to join a discussion and be asked questions about it. The faculty takes part in the discussion, and responds to questions just like in a traditional classroom. 

Although E-learning is a relatively new concept in our country, it is not something absolutely new. And it  has become very relevant and a vital form of learning in these trying times.
