M. Shahadat Hossain has taught marketing in Canada and the United States for over 14 years both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught  at Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, Ottawa from 2001 to 2006. He then went on to teach at the State University of New York, Potsdam till 2015. During this period he has also taught at Clarkson University, NY as an Adjunct Professor. He has worked extensively on online learning during his tenure at SUNY Potsdam where he was part of the Distance Learning Curriculum Advisory Committee. He has also taught marketing courses at the graduate level at a private university in Bangladesh.
He teaches government officials and Doctors Communication English as an instructor of BIAM.

During his Dhaka University days, while pursuing his degree in English Literature, Shahadat worked as a journalist with various English Dailies and a weekly. He was also an English broadcaster with the External Services of Radio Bangladesh. He actively took part in debate competitions and represented Dhaka University in number of international debating championships.
Shahadat Hossain attended Cornell University for his Hospitality industry training and has worked at Sonargaon Pan Pacific Hotel in the early “90s as Director PR. He has developed an English training manual for hotel staff. He has authored research papers and also received Outstanding research award for his work in innovation in the hospitality industry service.

Prior to his academic career he worked in various sales and marketing positions both in the service and manufacturing industries. He has held senior executive positions in multinational companies and ran a public limited company with over 400 employees as its acting Managing Director. He has owned and operated his own businesses in Dhaka Bangladesh. He is a marketing consultant in the hospitality industry and is currently the Managing Director and CEO of Astute Horse Business and Marketing Solutions. He also sits on the Boards of various IT and social impact companies. He has authored research papers and also received Outstanding research award for his work in innovation in the hospitality industry service.
An avid cricket fan, he never misses any of Bangladesh’s matches.
